Bargi Dam in Jabalpur is one of the important dams on the river Narmada. It is one of the early major dams out of the 30 dams on this river. Bargi Dam holds great significance as it is one of the major sources of water supply in Jabalpur and the adjoining region. Bargi Diversion Project and Rani Avantibai Lodhi Sagar Project are two important irrigation projects that have been developed by this dam. Over the years, Bargi Dam has become an important tourist attraction of Jabalpur. The Madhya Pradesh government, too, has taken the initiative and opened a resort facing the dam which gives a breathtaking view of the entire dam and the reservoir. Boat ride, fishing, water scooter, etc. are some of the facilities available which make a trip to Bargi Dam enjoyable. Furthermore, various birds, such as mayna, parrots, cranes, pigeons and the local black sparrows, visit the big waterbody at the vicinity of this dam. जबलपुर में बरगी बांध नर्मदा नदी पर बने महत्वपूर्ण बांधों में से एक है। यह इस नदी पर बने 30 बांधों में से सबसे पहले के प्रमुख बांधों में से एक है। बरगी बांध का बहुत महत्व है क्योंकि यह जबलपुर और आसपास के क्षेत्र में पानी की आपूर्ति के प्रमुख स्रोतों में से एक है। बरगी डायवर्सन परियोजना और रानी अवंतीबाई लोधी सागर परियोजना दो महत्वपूर्ण सिंचाई परियोजनाएँ हैं जिन्हें इस बांध द्वारा विकसित किया गया है। पिछले कुछ वर्षों में बरगी बांध जबलपुर का एक महत्वपूर्ण पर्यटक आकर्षण बन गया है। मध्य प्रदेश सरकार ने भी पहल करते हुए बांध के सामने एक रिसॉर्ट खोला है, जहाँ से पूरे बांध और जलाशय का मनमोहक दृश्य दिखाई देता है। नाव की सवारी, मछली पकड़ना, वाटर स्कूटर आदि कुछ ऐसी सुविधाएँ हैं जो बरगी बांध की यात्रा को मज़ेदार बनाती हैं। इसके अलावा, विभिन्न पक्षी, जैसे कि मैना, तोते, सारस, कबूतर और स्थानीय काली गौरैया, इस बांध के आसपास के बड़े जलाशय में आते हैं। पक्षी विज्ञान के किसी भी छात्र के लिए यह जगह ज़रूर देखने लायक है।
